About Us
I always knew from a very young age that I wanted to work with animals. Growing up, I had a "Dog Fancy" subscription and loved reading and learning about different dog breeds and watching dog shows and competitions whenever I could find them on TV. Growing up as the only child in the house my dogs were my playmates and companions. When I was in grade school I thought I wanted to be a veterinarian when I grew up until I realized that even though I would get to work with animals, I would be working with sick or even dying animals a lot of the time and I didn't think I could handle the sadness of that on a daily basis. After letting the dream of being a veterinarian go I struggled with what I wanted to do with my life. As an adult I started down several different career paths but nothing was ever a good fit and I would lose interest. I ended up being a Stay-at-home-mom for many years and enjoyed raising my children and having family pets. Even in to adulthood I never lost my child like spirit or love of animals. I was first introduced to Golden Retrievers when I met my husband. He had a handsome golden fellow named Harley and he stole my heart. Needless to say, I was hooked on the breed after that! After Harley passed it left a void in my heart until several years went by and I realized I was ready for that happy, friendly, and carefree disposition of a golden once again. It didn't take long for my husband and I to find our first two precious babies, Sam and Rayne. It was love at first sight for both of them for me. One day as my puppies and I were watching a show about different dog breeds and breeders the thought occurred to me, "I could do that!" and suddenly my mind began to wonder how to make that dream a reality. Suddenly I was immersed in breeding books and finding out everything I could about dog mating, pregnancy, and whelping litters. Before I knew it, "Kasper's Golden Gems" was born and my first litter of Goldens was on the way!
Our Dogs
We adore our dogs!
Sam: Our Sammy is laid back and loves to play! He is affectionately known by his family as "Hammer" or "Steak" and will come to his nicknames as well as Sam. He is eager to please and loves to cuddle at our feet. He loves toys and tries to fit as many in his mouth as possible and he loves to swim and take showers.
Rayne: Our "Ray of sunshine" is as sweet as can be! Her nicknames are Honey, Cake, and Sue or any combination of the three, as in "Sue Cake" or "Honey Sue". She is such a lover and her favorite spot is curled up in our lap and snuggling up to us as close as she can. She is very sweet and laid back and also loves playing in the water and is a connoisseur of stuffed toys. She also has a shoe fetish and loves to randomly move our shoes and place them around the house. She loves snacks and also watching cartoons on TV! She will be retired from having puppies at the end of 2021.
Blizzard: Our "Bliz Liz" is our super sweet English Cream boy who came to us from Southern Indiana and who's daddy is a champion dog from Poland. He loves to swim and play with toys by laying on his back and throwing them in the air with his paws. He loves his people and gives us hugs often by laying his head into our chest and snuggling up close. Everyone who meets Blizzard falls in love with his sweet personality.
Sky: Little "Sky Pie" is my daughter's pup and one of the lighter colored pups from Rayne's first litter. She's a little fire ball of energy and doesn't let the other dogs push her around. She loves cuddling with her people, watching TV, giving kisses, and stealing socks/undergarments. She is not one of our breeding dogs and is just our daughter's loveable pet!
River: Sweet River came to us all the way from Tennessee. She is a "daddy's girl" to my husband. She loves car rides and walked amazing on a leash from day one! She has a shorter "field golden" style coat and feathering and loves watching birds fly around outside. She loves to swim and she gets along amazingly with everyone in the pack and is best friends with Sky, who is about a week older than River.
Summer: Summer is our newest family member. She came to us from another breeder who used our boy Sam as a stud for her female. Summer enjoys playing with her dad and the other dogs and absolutely loves attention from her humans and eating treats! She will be ready to breed with Blizzard in 2023!
